Dolce and Gabbana a tribute to quintessential art

Based at the Grand Palais de Paris, the exhibition Dolce&Gabbana le cœur sur la main highlights the creations of the couple since its creation, by the end of the 1980s.

The creation era of the brand mirrors its extravaganza: prints, colourful garments and glittery pieces.

The exhibition moved me as it highlights the importance of art in the fashion world and reminded me of my first article, Fashion Forward (link). From music to painting, china artistry, design and sculpture, the inspiration of the designers is endless.

The exhibition puts forward the D&G “Opera” collection and recreates the world of famous performances like Aida or Le Barbier de Seville.

My favourite room features a trompe l’œil (link article) bag with cannoli pastries, inspired by Sicily. The room is made of mosaic floors and mirrors which takes us back to the 1980s. Colourful and artsy fridges fostered thanks to a collaboration with brand Smeg enlighten the room. The biggest challenge? Trying not to eat the decor while in the room.

Have you seen the exhibition ? What do you think of Italian fashion?

Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
