« Orange is the new black »

Black, a colour often epitomising elegance and timelessness according to designers Balenciaga and Coco Chanel is often worn. It goes with everything and is so very French.

But what about orange? This colour is bright, enhancing and yet very few people wear it. If you remember Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, she prevents Cameron Diaz from buying an orange item.

People I know and cherish also told me they weren’t wearing the colour either because they thought it didn’t fit them or because retailers did not make a large selection in this colour.

Well I ask to differ. There are so many shades of oranges that one is bound to suit you. Lighter shades closer to yellow that I call the “pumpkin” orange or darker shades that are closer to red.

What about the selection proposed by retailers? Just as there are 50 shades of grey there are many shades of orange waiting for you to be tried on. Especially now that the colour has been seen all over Fashion Week (I especially liked the collection of the brand Amiri).

I recently bought a pumpkin coloured dress that looks very posh and I can’t wait to try it.

Are you ready to get out of your comfort zone and try zesty colours? Or do you already have orange pieces in your wardrobe?

Let me know.
