Paris Fashion Week: the beacon of innovation

A few days ago, Paris hosted Men’s and Couture Fashion week. During both events, I discovered innovative trends and takeaways, from sustainable hangers to cage dresses.

1.Men’s Fashion Week

During Men’s fashion week, I went to the Man/Woman Trade show hosted in the Pavillon Vendôme.

I met with three Japanese brands : A Leather, U-Dot and Japan Blue.

The first brand showcased sustainable leather clothes and matching hangers to avoid leftovers. My favourite was the purple corner, obviously.

U-Dot displayed customisable shoes reminiscent of Spanish brand Camper. Customers choose a leather-made pair of shoes and then the pattern they want to decorate it with. It’s like choosing a paint colour for a brand new house.

Finally I met brand Japan Blue. Born in a town close to Otawa (Est Japan), jeans are made using local water. It’s very important that the water is clean because it’s the base of Japanese cuisine. A lot of the jeans on display are made with large patterns which is typical of Japanese minimal fashion, like designs of Yohji Yamamoto.

2. Haute couture Fashion Week

Attending the Lena ERZIAK fashion show and wearing my new boots

During Haute Couture Fashion week, I went to Lena Erziak’s fashion show. Heidi Klum’s son opened and closed the show. It’s more and more common that men models run women-themed shows and the other way around.

My favourite outfit? An ensemble pairing a bird cage hat and a matching gown, epitomising the emancipation of women.

What’s your favourite item?

Let me know.
