Until September 8, the Opéra de Paris showcases “Operalympics”, an exhibition reflecting on iconic ballet and opera costumes worn by athlete characters.
The exhibition starts with costumes designed by Coco Chanel in 1924 for Darius Milhaud’s Le Train Bleu. Jean Cocteau contributed to the writing of the performance. He was a friend of Chanel.

Next were costumes by Pablo Picasso for Parade (see picture above). I really enjoyed them. I find their wavy shape very interesting and similar to the work of artist Hokusai.
Finally, the costumes of the characters playing bathers for En Sol are very nice too (see header image). The vivid colours and stripes are typical of the early 1980s and bring to mind designer Sonia Rykiel.
What’s your favourite costume ? Are you planning on going to the exhibition ?
Let me know.
Have a nice weekend,
LFB
