This week, I was invited to several fashion PFW couture shows. Unfortunately, because of my classes I had to skip a few. I would like to talk to you about two fashion shows I attended: la métamorphose and Lena Erziak.
La métamorphose
I arrive skiping the line and a lady from the staff looks at me saying “you’re from the press?” As I answer yes, I push the door and meet my peers, whereas the other guests are waiting outside. I sit down and notice a woman sitting with a dog which I reckon was about to witness his first fashion show. The man next to me smiles at me. “Hi, I am a photograph, he says.” I introduce myself and start talking about my blog. He starts telling me several anecdotes. “See the man in front of us? He is famous. I don’t remember his name but I used to see him in TV as a kid.” He adds “the basic red-haired man accross from us used to date a pretty model. She was only interested in his money. Obviously.” We stop talking as the show begins -the show is taking place in a cathedral which gives a sacred dimension to the outfits.
The show is called “light and dark.” I am wearing a black and white oufit (a fur jacket, black skirt and sweater and heels) a coincidence? I look in front of me. Many models reach the runway wearing black and white outfits, which gives a minimalist aspect to the show, bringing to mind designer Yoji Yamamoto. A model rocks a black and white suit, stating a form of emancipation dear to the roaring twenties.

Another model is dressed with a white and silver (a huge trend this season) dress shining under the spotlights. Her transparent tulle sleeves hug her arms lighly. Clearly my favourite outfit of the show.

Sadly few outfits are donned with colours. Among them, two get my attention: a gold dress and a green one. The gold dress blends transparency and glitter. An extra piece of fabric completes the look. The outfit makes me think of Elie Saab.

The green dress is highly contemporary in that its message is: free the nipple. Even more obvious when I know that the two designers of the dress are women. The dress plays with volume and puts forward freedom and body positivism. (The only thing I did not really like about the show is that some of the models’ thongs were visible which to me does not voice freedom but rather vulgarity.)

As I exit the show I see a woman dressed as a lamp (see the picture below). What do you think of her look?

Lena Erziak
The show is called Hollywood. Am I witnessing the right show, I wonder, as the first model walks on the runway? She is dressed in a lovely bright pink dress the volume of which brings to mind petals. Shouldn’t the show be named bloom, I ask myself?

But then, another model walks in and I see the Hollywood vibes entering the show. She proudly rocks a V-neck with a huge silver bow, her dress epitomizing extravaganza and show business.

Afterwards another outfit gets my attention. “Wait did we change theme again, I wonder as a princess comes in.” Her blue Cinderella dress takes me back to the fairytales of my childhood. Her elegant gloves make her ready for a ball. “Where is the prince?”

Finally, the scene changes once more. A model is wearing a purple dress, straight from the 1920s. Feathers surround her waist.

Here are pictures from the end of the show to give you an overview.

Oh and this is me wearing a Gucci scarf and and thrifted Chanel like tweed jacket.

Happy new year,
I was happy to share my experience with you. What are your thoughts? What is your favourite oufit? Let me know.
