Top trends and brands I spotted during Men’s Paris Fashion Week

Hello everyone hope you are well. I went to Men’s PFW SS23 this week and wanted to share with you my favourite trends and brands.

Japanese Brand Facetasm

1. Total look

Facetasm models matched their tops and bottoms whether printed or unicoloured.

One model paired black working trousers with a black, 1990s inspired athletic top.

Another model matched a white printed shirt and 1950s Capri pants -Capri pants were invented by designer Sonja de Lennart in 1948.

2. Green attitude

Facetasm’s stylist team dressed their models with green outfits, inviting consumers to be more respectful of the planet, like hippies had done in the 1970s.

One of these models had a green crepe attire inspired by nature, including a business suit, a shawl, and Capri pants. The other model had a green printed bomber jacket and matching Capri pants.

3. Cosy-wear

Two models were wearing loose and oversized outfits. The former was wearing a loose blue shirt and large beige cotton pants. The latter was dressed in a short trench coat, a long shirt worn like a dress, and beige trousers. Their outfits bring to mind the comfortable attire coined by designer Yohji Yamamoto in the 1970s.

French and Tunisian brand Basscoutur

1. Business duty

A model was wearing a navy suit with a black 1970s belt enhancing his waist. This outfit can be rocked for a night out or during the day for work.

2. Artsy Vasarely

Three models were wearing monochrome outfits. They blended black and white, two colours that were adopted by painter Vasarely during the 1960s with the op art mouvement favouring trompe l’œil. To rock the trend you can choose to wear a blouse and flares, or a large dress.

Finish brand Myssy

I discovered this brand at the Man/Woman trade show. Myssy features many sustainable caps made out of wool. They exist in XS for babies and in bigger sizes for adults. Some are perfect for summer as they have a capeline shape and are designed with soft colours like pastel pink. Others have their wrong sides turned for winter and come in beige or green.

Portuguese brand A line

I also came across this brand at the Man/Woman event. The brand captures the Lisbonne lifestyle. It was first specialised in cotton shirts and then broadened its collection. A line offers original clothes namely a white padded shirt and a beige trench with stripes inside. It has trendy pieces like a dress-shirt and stripped shirts as well. The brand also coined environmental friendly pieces such as jeans that use less water.

The identity of the brand is enriched by timeless outfits that can be worn by night or by day, on every occasion.

Turkish brand Maison La Plage

I met Ceylan Perahya, the designer of the brand at the Splash trade show.
She coined the brand eight years ago after shifting from her law studies to fashion studies in Parsons.

Her brand is composed of silk, satin, linen sustainable hand-dyed fabrics like caftans or kimonos, sewn by hand by Turkish artisans. Maison la plage outfits are inspired by the designer’s travels especially by Tulum, Mexico. They gather earthy tones (black, white, brown) that Ceylan loves but also soft pastel hues that her customers enjoy. She chose to foster clothes reflecting herself as well as her customers, rendering uniqueness. “I have a small business and build ties with customers. I ask myself who is wearing what and how are they feeling,” she says.

Her must have? A white and brown long one shoulder dress that can be paired with big earrings during the day and faux bijoux by night.

Indian brand Deepa Gurnani

I discovered this brand during Splash’s trade show as well. I met Asia, one of the designers’ co-workers. She comes from the United States, where the brand headquarters are, while Deepa, the designer is Indian.

Right now, Deepa Gurnani’s headquarters are like a New York showroom but will soon expand into a flagship.

The brand’s products insist on savoir faire and are hand sewn in India. They are based on originality and elegance. To Asia, the items that best represent the brand are black and white pearl swan earrings, hot pink earrings, pop corn earrings for which the brand won an award. I noticed the brand offered other products such as hair accessories and mini bags. They come in two different lines, the designer and the ready to wear, more affordable one.

What is your favourite brand? Product?

Let me know.

XO,

LFB
