On Monday, I was invited to the Texworld showroom, at the Parisian Atelier Richelieu, where I interviewed designer Louis Gérin.

What is Texworld?

Texworld is première vision’s competitor. Both events are complementary: the former features international textiles while the latter is more French-oriented. The exhibitors of the Texworld showroom are mostly Asian (namely Chinese, Indian and Korean). The collections blend top of the range, slow and fast fashion. Eco-friendly pieces are adorned with a green label.
How does Texworld adapt to covid?

The organiser Messe Frankfurt France decided to host the event with less visitors and set meetings with a limited number of fashion professionals.
Designer Louis Gérin confesses Texworld is the biggest clothing showroom. Mess Frankfurt showrooms normally hold more than 900 000 exhibitors worldwide and about 1500-1800 in France. However, due to the sanitary situation, only 75 are featured. Showcasing 2500 items, the event shows a sample of textiles, Louis says, but also clothes.
Usually, Texworld is divided into three different “paths”. The sustainable path gathers eco-friendly labels, the second path enables designers to foster partnerships with a limited selection of garments, while the last one focuses on home-made products and encourages craftsmanship.
Textiles are organised into two categories. The ground-floor gathers future trends while the first floor showcases wintery pieces (clothes and accessories) and fabrics. The bottom floor called the “trend forum”, is divided into two sections: the aquatic and vegetal sections.

The aquatic section holds textured and printed pieces which matched my outfit.

The vegetal section features botanical textiles blended into a garden decor. Models have clay faces and are surrounded by orange trees.

On the upper floor, printed tuxedos and oriental embroidery are on display.
This floor also showcases other items namely “fourseaz” printed socks (the only French brand displayed in the showroom).

Selected by Louis and his business partner Greg, the items blend fashion, design and architecture, surrounding artistically staged models.
Did you know Texworld? What is your favorite part of the showroom?
