How to prep and treat your skin for Summer

Summer is in less than a week. Here are a few skin hacks that will help you throughout your Summer holidays.

1/Freshen up

The heat can have nasty effects on your skin: it can make your face oily or sweat. Here is how to counter this issue.

-homemade refreshing cleanser

Mix -the same quantity of- cucumber juice (that you obtain after putting your cucumber in a blender) and milk. Store the mixture in a container and put it in your fridge. Then, take a coton pad and soak it in the mixture. Apply on your face. Rince with water.

=> I tried it when I was doing a cucumber recipe and the results were amazing. I just don’t remember if I put milk in the mixture or not (I believe I didn’t)  -I think adding milk is optional.

-buy spray water

Evian spray water is really convinient, especially if you are out and you are too hot and/or sweating.

-tissues, towels…

When your skin is too oily, gently press a tissue/towel (it even works with toilet paper) against it. This will absorb the oil from your skin.

2/Tan

-carrot juice

Carrot juice is known for its ability to help your skin get some tan. So drink carrot juice daily or as much as you can to get a nice tan.

-homemade cream to make your tan last longer

Melt 10g of Vaseline in 20cl of wheat seedling oil in a pan. Then remove the mixture from the stove and add the juice of two carrots. Put the creme in a container and store it in your fridge. Apply before going to bed.

3/Sun

You should always apply sunscreen, especially between 12h and 17h, when it’s particularly hot so as to avoid sunburns and to protect your skin.

What if I forgot and I have a sunburn which really hurts?

Don’t panic. Apply yogurt (like Greek yogurt) on the burn. This should ease the pain. You can also try with aloe vera.

-After sun homemade cream

Mix some cucumber juice with 2cl almond oil. Shake well. Apply on the evening/at night to keep your skin mosturised and soothed.

I hope these tips helped you. Which one is your favorite? Do you have other tips?

Let me know and have a nice Summer.
